Pokemon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame Preview

While I haven't gotten everything complete for Pokémon Frost and Flame, as it turns out, I've already developed ideas for their follow-ups. I present to you POKéMON _BLAZEFROST and POKéMON _CHILLFLAME.

Much like Pokémon UltraSun and UltraMoon, Pokémon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame are meant to feature an alternate story to that of Pokémon Frost and Flame, although whether this is a sequel or something else is subject to change. Anyway, one of the themes of BlazeFrost and ChillFlame is fusion as you'll see below and the game will offer a number of new things, such as new Pokémon forms, new regional variants, and even new Pokémon as a whole in addition to new Z-Moves, new Mega forms, and even new Ultra Beasts.

One such proposed change is that you start the game in a completely different place in Floredisa and go through the Gyms in a much different order, thus changing things up with their lineups. Also, when it comes to the layout of the region, BlazeFrost uses Flame's orientation and ChillFlame uses Frost's orientation.

With one of the main themes of the games being fusion, as it turns out, there are now new forms to the two main legendaries; Anchetis and Borealis, in which due to something in the story, they've managed to merge together into their fusion forms, creating an interesting mix of heat and cold that could change the balance of the world. How this fusion happens has yet to be revealed, although it might be connected to Atlaunis.

As you may already know with Mystask and Tikidol, they come in two forms; the pacifist Shaman form and the violent Warrior form. However, there is now a third form to them in their Purify form, effectively acting as the medium between the Shaman and Warrior forms.

As Shaman form Tikidol become Flortem and Warrior form Tikidol become Warutika, Purify form Tikidol become Puribal, which is a tiki statue that has a cascade of water constantly flowing out of its mouth that is said to calm down both the Shaman and Warrior sides of the Mystask family.

Venonat found in the region at some point in time appeared on Starray Island, where they adapted exclusively to the night and as a result shed their poison traits for stronger psychic powers. Floredi Venomoth are said to get stronger under the starry night with their wings glowing in a magenta color light.

Some new information for Pokémon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame is now ready to be unveiled.

New Pokémon Forms

First up happens to be a new form for Cryseed and Crysower. To be honest, however, these forms were in Frost and Flame, but were unattainable, although the Crysower below was seen in the post-game. Now, you'll have your chance to get them yourself.

An unusual sub-family of Cryseed and Crysower, these ones have absorbed the traits of diamonds and are said to be the rarest of them all, making them valued for explorers. Diamond Form Cryseed was first discovered by Nicholas Schnee, founder of the Schnee Dust Company, but hasn't been seen since. They happen to excel in Speed the most and their secondary ability is Chlorophyll. They learn Agility, Shadow Sneak, and Extremespeed.

Spider Monkey Pokémon

Type: Rock/Bug

A Pokémon that looks like a gorilla with four spider legs coming out of its back, Primaber uses its legs in order to climb walls of any kind as well as trap and attack its prey. It's used in a new Poké-Ride feature called Primaber Climb, which will allow you to scale certain walls.

Type: Dark/Ground

A dark and vicious Pokémon consisting of what looks like a horse with a demonic rider on top of it, Nuckelavee was said to have been brought into being by black magic from a dark-minded faction of Floredisan shamans. While it rarely appears, when it does, devastation follows, and to this day, it's feared Pokémon to come across. Hopefully you'll never encounter it...

Gastly found in Floredisa are said to be the manifestations of malice from those that took pleasure in the chaos that lead to the Floredisan Calamity, embracing their dark characteristics even more and developing a more sinister look. Their sharp tongues drain the life force from anything that it licks with it. Floredi Haunter have a tendency to instill dread in those that encounter them. Coming in contact with one will drain your life force. Floredi Gengar are even more dangerous that their normal counterparts, as one passing through you will take all your life force away!

They learn moves such as Shade Beam and Dark Wave while still learning moves such as Confuse Ray and Shadow Ball.


New Characters

Two new characters have been revealed for BlazeFrost and ChillFlame. 

Patako Amatsuka (Origin: Gal*Gun)
Info: A 1st year student at Sakurazaka Academy in Natsuiro Island, Patako is a mysterious girl that doesn't join any clubs, but wants to have her own club in the Military Research Club. She doesn't have any Pokémon of her own, making you wonder if she even desires to be a Pokémon Trainer...

Winter Schnee (Origin: RWBY)
Info: Winter is the older sister of Weiss Schnee and the eldest child of the Schnee household. A rebel against her family, she distanced herself from them by enrolling in Atlas Military School in City of Atlas and now serves Floredisa's military branch. She also researches the power and capabilities of Z-Moves and is a specialist in them, sometimes being found at the Z-Square.


New Feature

A new place to be found in BlazeFrost and ChillFlame is the Z-Square, where you'll be able to take part in what's called a Z-Tournament, where all Pokémon hold Z-Crystals to unleash Z-Moves. Here, instead of Z-Moves only able to be used once per battle, Z-Moves can be used once per Pokémon, and all Pokémon are required to use Z-Moves against opponents.

New Pokémon Forms

Pokédex Rotom
Type: Electric/Psychic
Special Move: Gravity Hold

This is a new form for Rotom that’s obtainable in Pokémon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame. A Pokédex inhabiting a Rotom, it’s said to have revolutionized the Pokédex itself in Alola. Recently, battle capabilities have been implemented into it, allowing it have a more dynamic use.


UNGAIKYO _STORM
Cursed Mirror Pokémon
Height: 27'7"
Weight: 912.0 lbs
Type: Ghost/Dark

This is a form for Ungaikyo that was introduced in Pokémon Frost and Flame. Due to an unknown device controlling it malfunctioning, it started to change form and began absorbing everything around it until it grew into a monstrous shape. It has three heads and three pairs of mirrors in addition to six tentacles that are said to be a quarter-mile in length. Anything it captures gets absorbed into its mirrors and if it weren’t stopped, it could destroy the world.


More for Fusion Anchetis/Borealis

They get a new ability called Fusion Aura, which ups the power of all Fire and Ice attacks by 25% and eliminates all effects of terrain and prevents terrain moves and abilities from working. It overrides Nova Aura and Ice-9 Aura. If a Pokémon uses Camouflage, it’ll randomly become either Fire-type or Ice-type (if it’s already one of those two types, it’ll become the other). Nature Power becomes Cold Flame. Fusion Aura stays in effect until the user switches out.

In order for this form to be maintained, either Anchetis or Borealis must be holding the Origin Stone. Whoever holds the Origin Stone determines which one initiates the fusion. Fusion Anchetis and Borealis get both Molten Blaze and Frozen Surge and both Diamond Flare and Ruby Freeze. In addition, holding the Origin Stone allows them to use a new signature Z-Move called Molten Frozen Big Bang, which is both Fire- and Ice-type and does double damage against not-very effective Pokémon.

Ferryigon is a higher stage for Paradegon debuting in Pokémon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame. It resembles a long, dragon-shaped boat having come to life. There’s a legend that says if a Paradegon lives for 100 years, then one night, if the planets are in alignment, then it will be transformed into a boat. It can carry a number of people within itself and is known to appear during a special festival.

Height: 41'4"
Weight: 1324.0 lbs
Type: Ghost/Grass

Dhelmass is a new higher stage for Dhelmise debuting in Pokémon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame. It’s a large ship covered in seaweed that rivals Wailord in size with two anchors on its sides. When two Dhelmise interact, their combined supernatural power draws in a lot of wreckage on the ocean floor and forms into a ship held together by the seaweed. It uses its anchors as flails to attack and is said to have a grudge with Wailord.

Doduo initially had a difficult time adapting to the tropical terrain in Floredisa, but as time went on they honed their leg skills to the point where they started to gain Fighting-type traits. In addition to allowing them to move fast, their feet are capable of breaking rock with their kicks.

Floredi Dodrio’s talons have hardened to the point where they feel almost no pain. In addition, its endurance has made its plumage tougher and more resistant. It’s also honed its three minds to be synched up all the time. When tired, only one head ever sleeps at a time.

Their abilities are Tough Claws and Quick Feet. They learn moves such as Rolling Kick, Jump Kick, and Close Combat. Floredi Dodrio gets Triple Kick.


New Ultra Beasts

Pokémon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame introduces three new Ultra Beasts that play some sort of role in the game's story. The three from Pokémon Frost and Flame (Ekorogent, Kuronasin, and Elitastel) also appear. This time around, you'll encounter Ultra Beasts before the post-game. Amalgam is exclusive to BlazeFrost while Diamond is exclusive to ChillFlame.

UB Entangler

Resembling a gigantic squid with strange eyes all over its body and long, robotic-like tentacles, Entangler is also known as a “space squid”. It’s said to be able to focus its power in order to open up Ultra Wormholes that allow it to enter other worlds, or simply let its tentacles through and drag other things into Ultra Space.

UB Amalgam

Amalgam is a bizarre creature, with the head and forelegs of a wolf, the body of a gorilla, the legs and tail of a reptile, and its head and all its limbs are cannons. It can fire mortar-like blasts from any of its cannons, with the ones fired from its head the strongest. It can use its leg cannons to launch itself several dozen meters into the air.

UB Diamond

Diamond is best described as a crystalline entity, with a giant pink-color body resembling an otherworldly snowflake, and holding a huge lime-green prism in its center. It can launch the prism to attack as well as pick it back up afterwards and also draws power from the prism.


New Z Moves

Pokémon BlazeFrost and Chill Flame introduce several new signature Z-Moves. For example, the Floredisan starters each get one as do Fusion Anchetis/Borealis.

New Characters

TEAM CRYSTAL_FUSION (Origin: Pokémon BlazeFrost/ChillFlame)
Team CrystalFusion, known as Team Crystal F in Pokémon BlazeFrost and Team Cr Fusion in Pokémon ChillFlame, is a villainous team located in Floredisa. Wearing aqua blue-color outfits in BlazeFrost and teal blue-color outfits in ChillFlame, they look to be suited for colder weather. What their main goal is currently unknown, but for some reason, it feels as if they've appeared before.
_{Team CrystalFusion is supposed to basically Team Crystal in BlazeFrost and ChillFlame. There being two different versions of them also helps to create a bit of divergence between versions of the game.}

Aoi Kamishiro (Origin: Libra of the Vampire Princess)
Info: Aoi Kamishiro is a mysterious girl that serves as one of Team Crystal F's admins. She is also known to speak to a higher power. Aoi prefers physical work over cognitive thinking, sometimes rushing into things. Aoi only appears in Pokémon BlazeFrost.

Lycoris Radiata (Origin: Libra of the Vampire Princess)
Info: Lycoris Radiata is a girl who mysteriously appears as one of Team Cr Fusion's admins. She also carries around a large crystal scythe for some reason. Lycoris is always overexcited and acts like an idiot at times. Lycoris only appears in Pokémon ChillFlame.


Izura Kurokami (Origin: Unknown)
Info: Izura Kurokami is a strange young woman with long, magenta-color unkempt hair, a visor over her eyes, and dark-blue color clothes. Her origin is unknown, and she speaks in short, monotone phrases and battles without emotion. Izura has a Type: Null as her main Pokémon.


New Poké-Ride Options

Pokémon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame introduces two new Poké-Rides.

Primaber Climb: A new Poké-Ride in Pokémon Blaze Frost and ChillFlame is Primaber Climb, which allows you to scale various walls. While scaling walls, you’ll be able to move left and right in order to reach areas.

Ferryigon Sail: A new Poké-Ride in Pokémon BlazeFrost and ChillFlame is Ferryigon Sail, which allows you to sail between the island chains of Floredisa. Ferryigon Sail works similar to sailing in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, although a lot less tedious. You have free range while sailing and while on the ocean and can also encounter wild Pokémon as well as fish for them. You can use Dragon Pulse to break rocks found on the water as well.


Totem Pokémon

In addition to the Gym Leaders in Floredisa, the region also offers something else for you to do as you progress through the region. Floredisa is divided into four quadrants and in order to travel from one quadrant to another, you must defeat a Pokémon that is much larger than it normally is. During these battles, the Totem Pokémon will have at least one of its stats upped and will call in ally Pokémon to assist it. You won’t be able to catch any Pokémon during this battle. While four of them are encountered during the main story (one every two Gyms), more appear during some mini-quests. These Totem Pokémon are something that is more known to be found in Alola.
